Target Acquired: Akane

Akane, from Ludic Studios, (not to be confused with Akane the Kunoichi) is an arena combat game with a focus on melee attacks. The game stars Akane, a skilled warrior who faces off against hundreds of yakuza in the rainy streets of Mega Tokyo in the year 2121. Most of Akane's enemies die in a single hit, but so does she, and getting killed returns the player to the start of the game to try again... although it's possible to unlock new items and equipment to gain an edge in battle. Most of the yakuza just run straight at you and are easily dismembered, but some tougher foes take multiple hits to kill, and others can fire projectiles. After every 100 kills, Akane faces off against her nemesis in a tough battle before returning to the fray once again.
