The Behemoth is known for a number of whacked out 2D video games, including Alien Hominid, Castle Crashers, and BattleBlock Theater, and now the studio is revisiting their hit brawler with the release of Castle Crashers Remastered on Xbox One (and eventually PC). In addition to the multiplayer antics featured in the original, the updated version offers higher resolutions, a 60fps framerate, various performance enhancements, and the inclusion of a new minigame called Back Off Barbarian. The new minigame has up to four players hopping around a grid-based playfield to avoid a constantly growing number of enemies.
Castle Crashers Remastered is coming to Xbox One via XBLA on September 9, with a later release planned for PC as an update to the existing version on Steam. If you've already purchased the game on Xbox 360 - and you have an XBLA Gold account - you can download the remastered game for free through September 20 (or for $5 thereafter). The developer has also announced that the original Xbox 360 version of the game will be made backwards compatible for Xbox One owners (without the enhancements found in the remastered version) sometime this Fall.
